Our School

Mar Makil Public School is the response and realization of the ' felt need ' of the Kaipuzha locality and of the Knanaya community. With the motto ' lighted to light ' we aspire to be a small glowworm in a world of confusion and terrorism. The school aims at excellence in education and character formation of each child and inculcates values in a world of consumerism which gives less value to the values of life. It highlights the values handed over by the veteran of knanaya community and nurtures every physical, mental and spiritual need of the students.

The idea of starting an English medium school at Kaipuzha was originated by late Rev.Fr.Thomas Tharayil, Kallara Vicar of Kaipuzha Forane church. Fr.Thomas in consultation with the parish council presented the need of an English medium school at Kaipuzha to the superior general of the Visitation congregation. To add to this, our people abroad having an ardent desire that their children should be educated and brought up in our own culture have many times requested us to start an English medium school at Kaipuzha –where Bishop Mathew Makil sowed the first seed of education. As it was the need of the time the Visitation Congregation took up the venture and started the school in 2007 with the permission of Rt. Rev Dr. Mar Mathew Moolakkatte the Arch Bishop of Kottayam. Rev.Sr.Lititia S.V.M was the first principal and Rev.Sr.Aquinas S.V.M was the first manager of the school.

At present there are 750 students and 40 staff members. The school has all the modern facilities like computer and language lab, home theatre, library, laboratory, conference hall, prayer room, a well furnished auditorium, children's park, courts for indoor and outdoor games and school buses for transportation of the students.
